I pulled out a pile of my mother’s aprons from the 1950s. Those fancy ones worn at holiday dinners, those flour sack aprons worn for the real kitchen work. The ones worn for summer. Others for the winter holiday dinners. I pulled out a fancy one and paired it with with a bright satin bustier from a theater costume collection and a black tulle petticoat and assorted ribbons and beads.
On this canvas, I really played around with texture, loaded on the paint with a palette knife. ( It’s going to take an age to dry.) A fun exercise in paint. After I stood back, I realized it looks a bit much like a “french maid” outfit. Well, I guess I will have to try again!
